- The European Commission has completed its legal analysis of Hungary's fourth constitutional amendment and sent three letters to the Hungarian authorities requesting further information, with a one-month deadline, the commission's spokesperson said.
- Hungary and Russia are each other's reliable partners; bilateral ties are characterised by "respect and confidence", Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi said after talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Budapest.
- The central bank has published a study proposing its merger with financial watchdog PSZAF, as part of efforts to "reinforce Hungary's macro-prudential framework".
- Transparency International Hungary and other whistleblowers turned to President Janos Ader and asked him not to sign a recently adopted amendment regulating access to public information which they think would reduce the transparency of public finance.
- The Bloomberg news agency has been fined 10 million forints (EUR 33,500) for publishing inaccurate information about the central bank's rate cut last week.
